Statement in English about the ceramic pictures.
Each city large or small has an essence of its own, its own harmony, its own melody.
This unique feeling I get from Athens is what I try to express in my pictures, the energy and the intensity of the city.
I identify with motifs I see around me, which give me such a strong feeling of this energy, this intensity. Small fragments, each telling their own story, but also being part of a bigger picture.
Utilizing photographs I have taken, I then transpose them manually onto a clay slab, manipulating them until I achieve a concentrated image of each specific motif. Any unnecessary details are left out until I feel the true pulse of Athens within me. To hear its melody.
This is what I strive to express in my pictures. To freeze in time some moments of everyday life, and to give them value.
